Dogs Nads mate Like the red throat on it and could tie a batch using different colours .

Thanks for the comments lads , the throat is arctic fox I dont have any EP fibres so I put that in instead. The eyes are 3d eyes I got from G.A.C. last year, I stuck them onto rattle eyes I got at the same time. Hoping to get out in the next couple of weeks so hopefully I'll know if this will work then.

all the best,

Derek

Thanks for the comment on the fly, the eyes are glued onto a hollow rattle, as far as I could feel the rattle didn't have any integral weight to speak of. This fly hasn't seen water in anger yet so it'll be interesting to see how it fishes.

Those are the hooks you recommended on another thread and they are fantastic for the price and they do look the business for this type of fly.

Might have to fill the bath this evening with cold water and see how it goes and risk the wife calling out the lads in the white jackets cause her husband is "fishing" in the bath again....ah well

all the best,

Derek.

The only way you could get this fly to swim true, is to put the rattler on the back end of the bend of hook.

By placing the eyes on any part of the shank, be it more central or not will still flip the fly over.

Derek, The way you have set the rattle on the hook, will stop the rattle working the way it should. as the bearings in the tube don't run the length of the tube as they should to make them work, the best way with rattles is to have the running along the shank so that when you are working you fly. the bearings run the length of the tube and rattle, the other way would be to fix them on the back of the downward part of the bend of hook. so that when you jerk the fly when working it. they will still move and rattle plus it will keep the fly on an even keel and swim true, hope this helps. i any say this as i have also done the leaning curve tying fly for pike.

The fly you tied looks nice just needs tweeks thats all.

Glad you like the hooks i told you about, i do like them and have worked well for me.

Dai
