Default Pike fishing in Ireland

I am thinking of going to Ireland next year for a few days pike fishing. I know nothing about the fishing in Ireland, so any info would be most helpful.

many thanks

jason

many thanks to you all.

The only free time I have to get away is next September, is that a good time for pike in Ireland?

If you do not mind I will PM you later?

hi jason , sept is a excellent time for piking, water levels might dictate where and how you fish for them but generally most methods will catch,
personally i would concentrate on the loughs, holds bigger acreage of water with various depths and features for pike to patrol, lots of fodder fish and of course holds bigger pike in numbers,
boat fishing would be the preferance, trolling, sink and draw, lure and fly fishing, the lists go on ,
wear a life vest and enjoy the fishing

Any time is a good time for pike . All it means is that at different times the fish will be in different parts of the given Lough and and at different depths . In sept you will still get some good surface sport As it get colder the bait fish all shoal up and move to deeper water and the pike move with them . This is where a fish finder is a MUST .
