Default best way of storing Pike flies

Hi all

Just wondering how everybody stores their big, bulky Pike flies in a manageable way. I have a large fly box which is OK but not ideal as it fills up quickly and the wings get sorted of tangled together - any other suggestions?

I keep mine in an old float tube. They dont get crushed but can get tangled with each other,so I will keep watching for a good idea too

a float tube?

I'm guessing you don't mean a belly boat!

No No the old plastic tube from my float trotting worm drowning days. although I bet you could get some speed up with a belly boat as you jabbed a pike fly in it

Just beat me to it offshore. I use video cases for all my bigger flies.

You can get them as cheap as chips from charity shops (3 for £1 round our way including the film) if you've done what we did and chucked them all out years ago.

Old mouse mat, or funky foam from hobbycraft stuck in and jobs a good 'un.

some nice ideas here

the fly wallets sound good will have to look into that

the foam-lined video box is a nice idea too (always prefer home-made if possible!) but pretty similar in size & shape to the old Efgeeco plastic fly box I already use

can't visualise the float tube (haven't float-fished for years) any chance of a picture?

Those transparent plastic bags that are used to pack stuff for the freezer, i just put them in, wrap them in bag and place them in my bag. I don't use vest for pike flyfishing, just a simple overshoulder bag. It works for me.
