Whats the best knot to use to attatch the wire trace to the fly?

I use a davy knot.

But it depends which wire you use.

I put a stop knot on the end of the wire and then make a loose overhand knot an inch up the wire... then pass the stop knot thru the eye of the hook and then thru the overhand knot and tighten down SNUG! Used by Barry Reynolds in his video capturing 54inch pike! good enough for him - good enough for me!

dougie has been playing with Fastachs so you may want to PM him to see how he's getting on with them.

The wire i have is.......20lb pro logic softlex wire.

the most reliable (and simplest) in my experience is the one Lefty Kreh calls the 'figure of eight' knot. i.e.

you can tie the fly direct or use it to attach a small link. It is said that this knot is less secure with the latest nickel-titanium wire but I don't use that so it does me fine - you should check the make-up of yours.
