if yes what club do you belong too and would you be willing to give a beginer an idea of what clubs to join and what streches of the river to fish.

The Medway is for most of it's stretch a very coloured river, so you probably only want to fish after a dry period with flies.

I think you'll find though there are clubs who hold the upper stretches which could be productive and clearer. For example

http://www.rtwas.co.uk/

I fish one of the Medways tributaries, the Teise. Whilst the stretch I fish has had all the Pike removed. Right down the end of our last beat I spooked a large pike in the shallows.

The Teise definitely runs pretty clear when there is limited rainfall. So the mixed waters of the RTWAS will definitely hold Pike. Other clubs on the main river are Maidstone Victory and Tonbridge. Although there are many other clubs from all over who own stretches.

If you phone the secretaries of those three clubs I am sure they would be only to keen to help.

carlos

thanks for the info mate can you let me know what it is like to fish the tease and if anyone can join or is there a waiting list?

I have only started fly fishing this season and have only fished still waters this season as i was not aware of a river fly fishing club that was local which i could join. A part from canterbury however they have a 2 year waiting list.

Also what flies do you use on the river and what techniqes? can you wade in the tease and can you use more than one fly?

sorry for all the questions but never river fly fished and would love to learn how to catch one of those wild brownies.

thanks tony
