I've been in contact with George Bernstein aka Pikeflyguy on the North American Fly Forum for quite some time now and George has just written a book on the subject of Pike and Musky fly fishing... I've had the pleasure of reviewing the book in my blog and thought you guys would be interested.
The book is not in the same league as Ad Swier or Barry Reynolds (it would be unfair to pitch it there) BUT it is an easy read, almost a one bath read... ie run the bath and settle down for a good read. There aren't any colour plates but hey if you want a fly tying book you'd by one or look at patterns on the net. This book is one that could easily be recommended for all those wanting to start PFFing. It is reflective in part and does contrast and compare chucking fluff against whacking out "hardware" as George terms it! There is often criticism levelled at books from North America being not as useful for the UK market, however, I'd disagree on two points, the first is that you just apply good technique anywhere and you'll catch fish and the second perhaps more importantly this book/guide would give you the potential starting point for a trip to North America.
Cost in GBP it is a little over a tenner plus postage... that's a few magazines that are full of adverts.
It's a very brave first publication by George as he funded the publishing costs himself!
It left me actually wanting to know more about George!
