Default river flies

Im doing a lot of river fishing at the moment. targeting Roach, Chub mostly will be looking a Pike in the near future.

I fish a few time a week (if im allowed the time!) in Leicester but will be going to Hope in the peak district, Stonethwait in the Lake district and Alnmouth in Nothrumberland and will be taking my kit with me to fish these locations so will be targeting whatever is about (hoping to find my first wild trout).

Any help on my selection of Flies would be appreciated

Cheers Chris

I'm sure you'll get all manner of answers here, but to keep it fairly simple, you'll not go far wrong with a few hare's ear nymphs and a selection of klinks.

Good luck,
M

Hares ear nymphs with gold bead
pheasant tail nymphs with gold bead
woolly buggers
dog nobblers
Peacock herl nymph red wool tail (christmas nymph)
All sizes of these flies will catch if used in the right way in the right place at the right time!!!
Hope it helps!
