Default Chub duck broke

My and a mate (sheepy, hes about here somewhere) went for a little session on the stretch of stream on the outskirts of Leicester, ive just got a new rod (a cortland cx 4#), and sheepy had a new reel - be a shame not to try them out.

Anyhow, after sheeps had a rudd on the first cast, things were slow despite witnessing a pair of 6lb+ Barbel and a lovely sizable bream. A short trip round the corner and things were looking up, a lovely little bend with a gold head daddy. et voila

clonking chub! never caught one before, even in my coarse days!

pics..

(Apologies for the smirky look and for the fashion victim over polaroids)

Nice one mate, i really want to have a go for carp on the fly, seen a few videos on it and they look like they can give a proper scrap!

Lovely looking fish you got there, and dont worry about the polaroids after all there main job is eye protection as much as aiding us to see fish.

Tom

Hi CTF.

Well done that man and what a cracking stream you are fishing. How are you finding your rod? I've got one myself and I can't fault it. I hooked and landed a 6lb Pike on mine (I was fishing a Red Bloodworm imitation for Roach) and it coped very well.

Top day out. Anyone got any tips for big barbell on the fly? These two were monsters for the size of water we were fishing!

Cant fault it, when i first got it i went into the garden for a short cast, i was very impressed and it handled the chub brilliantly, i found it had good through action yet still casted well with a nice tip to middle action.

it got big smiles from me, and a cracker to christen it was an real bonus

Have a go for them soon, they are probably there due to spawning and will soon head off downstream!!

Good luck!!
