Default Canal fishing

Hi going on the grand union and north oxford canal for holidays.

3 questions

1. what fish can i catch there
2. what flies or rapala type lures should i use
3. will i need a permit


your help will be apreciated

no permit on public waterways, england may be different, you might need a rod licence, may be two actually if your fishing fly and bait too, you really need an english forumer on this.

the waterways do issue permits (free) for cycling,fishing,boating.

You need a rod license.

You will also need a permit of some description I would have thought. Most canal stretches are let to angling clubs who will sell day tickets. Either post more specifically where you intend to fish, or the general are and I am sure someone can in the former case tell you where to get a day ticket, or in the latter put you on to a local tackle shop who can tell you.

It is also worth checking depending on when you are going if the sections in question observer the close season or not.
