If you tie your own flies you could just tie massive versions of trout lures and im sure they would work. Tie them on anything from a 1/0 to a 6/0 aberdeen.

Failing that just buy the biggest lures you can find, hances are they wont catch any big pike but you could have a bonanza with the jacks of a couple of pounds.

Default Close season

Craig,

The coarse fishing season on rivers is now closed so you shouldn't be pike fishing on the Nene until it opens again in mid June.

You can still fish stillwaters, depending on whoever controls them not observing the close season.

16th June

But you may still be able to fish some canals for them.
Best to check on the stretch first.

The flys are more likely to be called EP's..

As stated, the season is closed until June the 16th

Have a look at the Pike Fly Fishing Association website..lots of info on there

In addition to reiterating that rivers are off limits for pike at the moment, I would also add that when you do go, make sure you are familiar with how to handle, unhook and return them, and preferably go with someone who can show you.

Pike are delicate, and not to be handled with ignorance or just as bad without confidence.

This is the best advice you can be given. Tag along with someone experienced first.

You course guys amaize me! you worry (or make an issue) about your fish out of season or when their caught in-season and handled correctly! So... you'll understand why i'm still trying to get my head around (multiple) trebble hooks?

Come on... ditch the trebble and use a single hook... give the fish you love a chance.
