Default Perch on the fly

Went fly fishing on my local river Hull yesterday in the hope of catching a fish from the muddy waters. The fishing was tough as it always is but I managed to catch this smart little perch, in the murky conditions as the light was fading.

Nice one, it's always good to have a bit of variety. I had a nice 14inch one from me float tube a year or two ago. Sadly they all seem to have gone from the lake I fish. Used to catch them on little white fritz gold heads.

Cheers

Andy

Caught it on a size 12 gold bead black dog nobbler. This fly seems to work well for me in coloured water.

Perch are a nice fish, but since I stopped coarse fishing I've considered catching perch to be a bit of a pain in the preverbial, but that's probably because I'm going after trout at the time!

Hilarious when you think you're latching into a fry feeding monster on Rutland, giving it a strong strike, and a four inch perch goes whistling past you ear! Greedy bu99ers, a four inch fish going after a 3 inch shuggie!

Cor! That's a proper little perch that is... nice hump above his gills. Wouldn't surprise me if that one packed on some weight in the coming years. Is that typical of the water or was it a one off?
