I caught this Golden Rudd from my local river on the fly.

Small but beautiful.

Orfe are surface feeders and will readily take a fly, goldfish are less keen but will succumb to a buzzer nymph.

Orfe can be a real challenge to catch, however once hooked are one of the biggest disappointments. They really are the proverbial wet sack!

I've had loads on the dry fly at my local fishery, if you put on a dry you can't miss them

Looks like a golden rudd to me, beautiful little fish, get one of a pound plus and they are something else, rare as hell though.
Golden orfe/ide are great fun on dries/nymphs, ready takers of atrificials unlike most coarse species. They don't fight particularly well so use a light rod...4oz brown trout also don't fight like stocked 'bows but I'm still gonna try and catch any I come across in the tiny brooks I fish. I won't be waving a 7wt rod about when trying though.
Goldfish are much harder to catch, way harder than common/mirror carp, but I have had a few out on tiny spiders and bloodworm patterns, only in high summer and from a water that contains a good few of them.
You may get lucky and find some feeding on the top but this isn't too common unless you cheat and chum them up...DON'T!

Don't want to sound too inadequate on this one, but the orfe I was referring to were the 4,5,6 pounders that used to be in Lymm Vale (not may left now I believe). Remember the first time I hit one (5lber), I was expecting an almighty run, but absolutely nothing. Dead weight. Can't remember many such anti climaxes in fishing!
