Default New member - got some gear, but no idea!

Hello to all,

Just joined the forum after 'lurking' outside for a while! I've been toying with the idea of broadening my angling experience by doing some fly fishing for a while now. As a coarse angler who mostly enjoys fishing small local (ish) rivers like the Teme, Mease, Lugg, etc, I think targeting the coarse species found in these waters on a fly rod will bring a whole new dimension to my enjoyment of fishing. One of your newer members, Codenamemilo, is a fellow club angler, and it was his expressed interest in doing some fly fishing that gave me the 'push' I needed to take the plunge... ( nice one, mate! )

Fortunately, cnm has already asked a number of the 'novice' questions that I would have asked myself, and the answers received have given me a valuable insight into how to get started. Casting lessons seem to be a 'must', ( we'll be arranging these in the new year ), and tips on fly patterns, presentation, etc, have been a reel (pun!) education!

I'm sure that I will be asking a few seemingly inane 'novice' questions of my own in the future, but with the help and guidance available on the site, hopefully you can turn a lifelong 'float-chucker' into a semi-competent 'fluff-flinger'!

Thanks in advance, best regards, Castaline

It's a steep learning curve but well worth it. I haven't been course fishing since I started on the fly.

Welcome to the forum.
