Question Fly fishing for pike in Sussex

Anyone got any info on coarse fisheries , in the West Sussex area that are fly fishing "friendly" , that allow fly fishing for Pike ? I`ve been fly fishing for Pike at the Southern leisure centre lakes in Chichester (i`ve caught a couple) , but talking to the baliff they are not keen on us fly fishers (seems strange to me , as if you allowed it in the winter monthes , it could mean extra revnue ) .

Any info would be great , as i`ve got 5 weeks off at Xmas and need to keep myself occupied .

Hi Sensible I do not know of any waters in your area as I am from east yorkshire, but I hope this may help.
I tend to shy away from pike stillwaters that are heavily fished, due to the time of year and the depth some of them are. Also a lot of deadbaits are thrown in which can fill the pike up, and because a stillwater does not move pike use up very little energy.
Concentrate on small rivers, canals and even drains most of them hold pike and good ones to. They are not to deep and a lot of water can easily be covered, and they always seem to produce a fish when all the stillwaters fail. Also there are few or no rules and they are free especialy the drains which seem to do well at this time of year.
Buy an 0s map of the area and look for new waters you may be surprised whats in them
Good luck!

I used to be a member of the LAS (Lure Angler's Society) and one of the venues for outings/friendly comps was Ardingly Reservoir in West Sussex, which held some pretty big pike. The guys using big wooden jerkbaits scored pretty well here, though plenty of the smaller ones from the shores near the weedy sections were good as well.
Bewl I believe offers Pike tickets over the Winter
