I too found the Berryman/ Reynolds a good read but, as Squimp said, some of the chapters about location are not relevant to the majority of UK waters. It seems that when Winter comes they hang their rods up until "Ice Out".
There are one or two issues with Alan Hannah's book (mono for a trace and no landing net) but on the whole it too is a good read (imo). There is something to glean from both books and with a bit of fine tuning, the tactics talked about can be used to find Pike in Uk waters. You will have to read a lot to learn a little; and when it all comes together it's one of the best feelings in the world
As in all styles of Angling there are no hard and fast rules. If you are willing to try something different you'll put that extra fish on the bank.
Sadly there is a distinct lack of Pike Fly-Fishing literature on the book shelves but if you try
www.pffa.co.uk (Pike Fly-Fishing Association) you'll pick up loads of info from here.
Hope this helps.
