Default Nottingham Canal

Has anyone tried fly fishing on the Nottingham canal in the city centre? If so I’d be interested to hear their experiences. I used to walk along the banks during my lunch breaks and although I saw the odd person fishing (mostly with half a rod in one hand and a can of Challenge Lager in the other) I never saw anything caught. I did however see what looked like a large dead Zander. Unfortunately it was just a bit too far out for me to get a proper look. I also watched a very large carp take a fag end off the surface before spitting it out.
