Default Pike from the Forth and Clyde canal

My mates and I are going to try pike fishing with the fly this autumn for the first time. Was wondering, in the interests of keeping things simple, is it possible just to use a floater?

It really depends on water depth mate, but if you are on a canal a floater should be fine. You can always use a sinking leader to get the fly down on the deck if you need to. I find an intermediate like the airflo saltwater a good all round pike line.
Good luck,
Andy.
