Can't offer much help I'm afraid, although I would also be interested in any answers. However, if pike are the target, there is obviously no reason to confine yourself to trout/fly fishing waters and there are a lot of lakes and meres around Shropshire with pike in if you do a bit of "googling" or ask at local tackle shops. The biggest problem with coarse fishing venues is being able to cast as most have a lot of trees around! Aqualate Mere is fishable via a syndicate and they have boats - staffs predator group I believe if you "google" that. Pricey though I expect. Then there is the Severn of course, perhaps some of the slower and more open stretches, the pike will be close to the banks anyway (although closed season until June 16th)....

u could try ellesmere or blakemere for sillwater pike ive always found canals to be the most productive venues for pike on the fly. In shropshire hows about trying the rednal canal by the queens head (near oswestry.)
Thats where i caught my first on the fly never had anything big out of there just jacks and perch still goood fun tho, if u fancy travelling a bit further the llangollen canal is even better still.

The only places I can think of are the ones that Amedeo has mentioned. Though Whitemere is your best bet for pike, ellesmere for the largest of them then either Blakemere or the mere on the left as you drive to Shrewsbury from Ellesmere.

Also most of the shroppy union canals have pike, though not in all that large numbers.

Otherwise there's an agricultural college (can't remember it's name) north of shrewsbury that has a small lake right by the road. This is jam packed full of pike.

Thank you, I think agricultural college is club water ( if you mean college near Baschurch) I don't know if they are provide day tickets. Ellesmere is good choise (I have been there few times - no fishing just walk with my family - you can't be every weekend fishing for peace in family if you know what I mean) but I didn't know that it's hold pike.
Is Ellesmere good for casting? I saw there a lot of bushes. Or do they provide boats. (Anyway I will ask chaps in Oswestry or Shrewsbury tackle shops).
Thanks

It may have changed, but Ellesmere was a club water only. Boat is best, and these can be hired from the nature reserve place. Blakemere was the only day ticket water, and you have to fish from land.

The agricultural college is the one in Baschurch, and can't for the life of me remember the name. May be worth just asking at the college to fish it, as it's jam packed full of pike.

Also the River Perry is full of pike, from Four Crosses and downstream, some nice chub and trout water further upstream too.

Hope this helps.

hi josef in response to what set up i use a 7/8wt rod with either an intermediate or fast sink line linked to that an 8-10ft leader, wire trace and for flies my most succesful are bunny bugs (fished booby style on the fast sinker) or bunny leaches and epoxy minnows tied on size 6-8 longshank hooks fished sink + draw on the intermediate.

ill try and put some pics up in june when the coarse season starts again
