Hi all,
Messaged my brother yesterday...........

Do u fancy trying to catch a pike on the flee?

It took him less than 10 mins to hook into............

Landed after 10 minutes of mad runs and brute force........

I lost 1 around 6lb i'd guess, landed 1 around 2lb

What weight do you think this one is? 13lb ish?

Great fun on fly gear, i've got to do that again.....

Photos from my mobile, so not the best i'm afraid!

Colin

Good fun no doubt but weight wise (without seeing how wide it is) I'd say between 8-10lb.

Pike are notoriously light for their length. I once caught one which was the best part of 3 feet long and only went just over 15lb (not on the fly though).

Nice fish there Colin, probably about 8lb (imo). Is that a big ol surface popper stuck in the side of it`s face ? That must have took some casting on a fly rod Hope you get pleanty more like it mate,
Good fishing,
Andy.

Nice one. I just got myself a heavier fly rod for trying some pike action this year. Thats a cracking fish. Where were you fishing?

I was up at Loch Rannoch last weekend and got a couple of pike around the 2lb mark on a soldier palmer Fought like stink on the 5 weight!

I've not caught a Pike on the fly yet, though I'm keen to add it to my list. I did buy a fairly budget #8 weight rod, though as it's pretty clunky and I'm looking at small river Pike I'd really rather use my #5 weight. Is that madness?

I'm thinking (hoping) smaller flies and smaller fish won't be problem, though I'm not quite sure how much of a bite tippet I need. Any advice would be extremely gratefully received!
