Evening all just want to share with you my joy of catching my first carp off the top in 2008.

I went to my local club water at 18:00 tonight and ispite of the earlier hail I managed this fish off the top.

Sorry about picture I forgot my camera and had to use the phone.

I wouldn't be so harsh, it's a good picture. Nice fish, too.

What did it take?

I cheated a little bit it being so cold. I threw in a few dog biccies and it took 2 hours before the first fish came up. I let it mop up the freebies then cast in a bonio imitation biscuit fly. The carp came up and game on.

I used a Sharpes Plus 3 #7, pfleuger president reel and 6llb drennen sub surface tippet.

I tried bloodworm patterns first but to no avail.
The carp was a lovely commen of about 9-10lb.
