Default Hurling chickens at pike.

I've only recently 'got into' hurling chickens at pike and I'm having a whale of a time concocting appropriate 'chickens' ... an interesting departure from the tiny stuff I usually tie!

Here's one that's been successful so far ...

Wink Re: Hurling chickens at pike.

You want flies the size of a dead chicken, start tieing up "Intruders" for Steelhead fishing.

Very impressive looking Paul, surely that will work.
Have you had any pike yet.?

A few, nothing of any size best probably around 6 to 7lb. I've had a few short sessions on the Gt Ouse which is not too far from me.

Last weekend I took my float tube to Ravensthorpe but just had one follow from a decent sized fish. I've had trout to 8lb in the tube and a fish of that size is quite a handful ... a large pike ... mmmmm ... thhat will be an encounter to savour ... and count fingers after!

JUST...I repeat JUST a perch of 4lb 6oz?
That would be reckoned a fish of a lifetime, especially amongst perch devotees. Hope you don't catch many pike under 30lb or you may be disappointed.

as you say i didnt know it was a big perch at the time or i would of gone to the bank and took it out of my little trout net and took some pic,s. but ive never had many perch in my life so thought it was just normal till i came on the forum the other day and told the lancsy lads what a bad day i had had. well i have herd of lots of perch coming out at those sizes so ill try this thursday to get one in. ive only ever fished for carp and then i worked in india and fished for marseer and then i thought id try the fly sa marseer go for them at dusk so thats why i started fly fishing and now im bl00dy hooked on fly fishing now so im having a go at pike this season and next year the tube and i go toindia for a month the river ramganga for the big ones
