Default Pike tube flies - leader ?

Hi Guys,

Started to tie up tube flies for salmon (with some success !) and thought I might give pike flies a go....that was - until I started thinking about feeding a wire leader through a tube and trying to attach it to a hook (with the resulting big knot or large clip) which then would need to be drawn into a silicone tube ???? How is it done ????

Nigel

I think Surflon will work...

It a wire that you can knot and I have found it very reliable...

Toby " funky flytying " on this forum stocks it and at a great price.

The tube option is well worth a look, as for wire leader attachment, the knottable wire is a good choice, but attach the hook, and form a loop in the other end , then just tie a clip to the mono leader, easy lure change. The bore of the tube needs to be large enough to easily thread the loop through, but no liner tube would be needed with aluminium/brass tubes.
MMMM? thats got the creative juices going, a waddington type body would be another, interesting option, far more movement possibility,s!!!!

If you are struggling to find larger bore tubes, a decent model shop will carry a range of tubes in plastic, aluminium, brass and copper, loads of options.
