Default pike leader colour

Putting together stuff to start trying for pike on the fly. Ordered wire trace etc but I've realised I haven't got any mono for the rest of the leader. Had a rummage in my stuff and found a spool of 20lb mono that I bought for one of my sea fishing reels, thing is, its yellow!
Don't know why it's yellow for the sea so not sure if it'll matter in the canal
I've read that leader visibility isnt so important for pike as they fixate on the fly, but its always best to ask people who might know ...so will it matter that its yellow?

Hi
I use flourocarbon for my leaders 24lb riverge, I also colour them with marker pen(the wire) you could use a marker pen on it. A lot of lure lads swear by red/white braid in 80/100lb, personally I like to hide the terminal stuff but thats just me. Best to give it a try and see how it looks in the water.

I would say it's better to buy a spool of 20lb Sunset Amnesia mono,or Fluro .Save any bother with marker, also you can make up 3 or 4 traces ready to use,if you find a wind knot etc.I use a small Fastach clip which i have found to be the most reliable and quick to change fly's.

Seaguar Ace Hard Fluorocarbon - 25.5lb - Fluorocarbon - Leaders for me , some say Pike might not need fluoro but I like it , shock leader knotted to a length of AFW Surflon Micro Supreme - 26lb Camo - AFW - Trace Wire , wee loop on fly end of wire using a jam knot and a wee split ring , seems to do OK for me

Just get something clear or more subtle than yellow, probably wouldn,t make any difference, the wire is not excactly invisible, but I wouldn,t use it, just don,t like bright coloured lines.

I use amnesia 13.4 kg for my leaders. Fiver a spool, extremely robust & generally behaves very well...oh and my last spool just ran out after 3 years fishing 2-4 days a week.
