your right there..... years ago i was playing a barbel when it decided to go into the far bank reeds or so i thought so after some heaving it became free but didnt feel right as i was playing it there was no fight just a steady heavy pull and when it got nearer i thought it was tangled up in old reeds until them reeds decided to head off upstream with the barbel broadside in its mouth which created a bow wave going up the Swale like a polaris submarine the pike eventually let go and i got the barbel in which weighed 7lb 6oz ,the pike i estimated to be not far short of 30lb as ive had one of 29lb 12oz which took a 1lb chub livebait
