Default "Ice flow no where to go", break the ice!

Thought I'd share todays experience as it's a little err...different, it may make you all question my sanity though!
I went to my local lake(coarse fishery) today but found it all iced up, should have gone piking on the local rivers but I was already there, so was gonna try.
I had my chestys on so waded in, one of the top spots, as deep as I could and started clearing a hole. After about 15 mins I'd got a semi circle of ice free water, extending out about 20ft where the water was up to my nipples. I'd have liked to have gone further out but I'm only 6ft 1" and didn't want to swim!
My swim...

Biggest shock of all, I actually caught fish..on fly! I've broken the ice to bait fish before but this was a first for me and I had a couple of respectable samples.
First fish...3rd cast!

As usual I caught a gudgeon too!

In total I had 8 fish in about 90minutes but missed 4 times that many takes.
They may have been small but I would have been chuffed with just one at the start.
Everything took bloodworm pattern in #16 or #18s.

Don't want to dampen your enthusiasm but could you reduce those pics a bit..I'd like to read the post but it runs clear off the page.

Great angling Dee.............makes me feel like getting out there right away. I would never have believed such a variety of fish on the fly through the ice.................I believe gobsmacked is the correct terminology...........................birdsnest

Sorry Roy, loaded them up in a hurry last night and didn't check size before I had to rush out.
All shrunk down now.
