I am going to start flyfishing for pike. Could anybody reccemond the type of leader to use and what length of leader to use.

I use a piece of mono 22/00, 3 to 5 foot in length. This in combination with a titanium 10 inch flexible leader as protection.

I use approx 1.20-1.40 of 0.45mm (Stroft, Maxima, ?) for the butt section and roughly 30cm of 0.8mm Hard Mono (RIO or Climax) as a shock tippet, alternatively you may prefer to use something like Tyger Wire instead of the HardMono.

For fly lines I just use heads (floating, where I fish it is pretty shallow) with loops at both ends - and flat mono (Airflo or?) or sometimes RIO or Airflo running line on the rear end of that.
