Default Chub and barbel on the Derwent

[img][/img] [img][/img] [img][/img] [img][/img] A quick mornings Grayling session on the Derwent turned into course fishing delight.

When I spotted chub taking flies of the surface, I couldnt resist.
The first one fell to a Klinkhammer, but I ended up missing a few takes, so switched to a very big and ugly Grey Wulff which did the trick. Four casts and another three chub. They seem to take a bigger dry much harder!

No more chub left and time to kill before picking my 5 year old up from ballet (complaining about me smelling of fish again).

Changed tactics and decided to drag some heavy goldhead nymphs through a deep rocky area and bam, mr.barbel felt like having goldheads for breakfast.

Fifteen minutes later and my first barbel.

Just shows, you don't need boilies and a bivvy.

Nice fish babilon well done. The only thing I will say is be careful how you handle the fish holding chub by the lip is not really the done thing, and try and lay fish on a soft surface not gravel.
