Default Another Irish Lump

Having a good run of luck at the moment , last 4 sessions have given me a low double not weighed , 12 lb 1 oz , 14 lb 4 oz , 14 lb 6 oz , 15 lb 8 oz , 19 lb , 21 lb , 24 lb 13 oz and session 5 today is ...

I hit the water at about 3 pm and I wasn't expecting much and knew I would struggle as conditions were not so good , not so good in that it was windy and I don't have a drogue and my casting is at best poor even on a fine day

I went to where I wanted to fish and as I thought I couldn't cope with it . I went round the whole lough looking for somewhere I could manage but it was hard going everywhere . Every so often I headed back to my spot in the vain hope the wind would some how have gone from there but no ! I was getting really frustrated and was desperate to just pull even a Jack as I am yet to blank on here . Every so often the wind dropped for a few mins and I just took these windows and made a short drift each time and had a chance about 6 pm when I had a fast pull on the end that caught me of guard and it was gone , I was fkin streaming mad with myself as felt I had missed my one and only chance

I fished on as and when I could but nothing , come 7 pm I thought a change was needed so took the fly off and put something orange on . The wind had dropped a wee bit so I said to self "one more drift and then admit defeat"

3rd cast into the drift I was just sweeping the fly up and along infront of me and about lift off when up from my left and the the deep dark weedy depths came this "thing" and hammered the fly and was gone again down in the deeps to my right and I was attached to it !! The speed this all happened at was awesome !!
I was in trouble though , I was tight into it but it had weeded me solid and because of the drift speed I was soon going over it with it running out the other side of the weed bank . I kept pressure onto the max , sunk the rod under the boat and managed to bring it round the boat and up the other side so I was now facing the fish . I had so much pressure on I really thought my rod was going to explode . I could feel I had brought the fish back to the weed bed and had to now drag it through , I did and got it up on top with about 10 lb of weed on it as well , not good but atleast it was up , out and on the move again . Most of the weed came off but the fish made an almighty run down again and into the next lot of weeds ! FFS man !! same thing again and freed it and once up this time it had enough and I netted it . RESULT !!

This fish pulled the scales to 24 lb 2 oz

Great fish Danny - now wait for the Central Fisheries Board to net it and kill it....bar stewards.
