Cool Roach great sport

Hi Guys

Spent two hours up the Forth & Clyde canal last night with my 9' 3wt Vision Cult, very hard going no sign of the bigger Perch and the Roach seemed hell bent on running back and forth along the front of the reed beds ? They didnt seem interested in food.

However i managed 4 small Perch and a couple of Roach this was the best one

Note the size 18 goldhead blood worm in the top tip (barbless of course) dispite being able to fit larger things in there mouths ive never caught any on bigger flys !

They are very cautious and suspicious indeed and mouth the fly for a split second before spitting it out so you need to "strike" if it looks like its in the fishes mouth.

Cracking roach - they really are lovely fish . Not had one on the fly yet but I plan to change that this year . The fish charging up and down the reed beds were probably spawning, although they're a bit later than I'd expect normally. There's usually no catching them when they're spawning - bigger things on their mind .
