Nice work, great fish. There are some nice Chub in the river I fish (not that big though, buts its only a small stream) I have been thinking of having a go for come June 16th, what flies do you use ? I tried a little bit last year with my normal trout flies (Parachute adams with a small nymph suspended underneath but they just ignored it). Would love to catch them on the fly.

Did you catch them recently? Sorry to blow it but if the answer is yes then I would not have posted any chub caught in the river in May.
Nice fish though.

No worries, I did not meant to be a smart@rse just do not want folks to get caught out. I do not agree with the UK coarse fish closed season anyway. But that is a different story.

Tight lines!

Nice fish and I bet not easily won! I've caught a few myself on the fly and they are not the easiest of quarries. Also they fight dirty. Just when you think that they are coming in like a sack of damp spuds they give a big tail flick and smash you up. Had very few on the dry, most have come to a small nymph tickled past them in their (inevitable) lie just under an overhanging branch.
