Default Authanic Wire - Pike Leader

Has anyone tried using this as a leader for Pike fishing on the fly?

Authanic Wire

I have no connection to the seller or the product, I just wondered how good it was?

I mentioned this stuff on here a while back but nobody seemed to know anything about...............so I bought some. I've since bought a lot. I originaly intended it's use for zander since it's nice and supple. It's basicaly a braid with a plaited wire surround. It knots beautifully, unlike some "knottable" wires I could mention. I've since promoted it to pike on the fly. It albright knots to the leader a treat, a quick grinner to a small clip and off you go...................I'm a big fan.................birdsnest

Hi, puddock,
I have never used it, try dennon soft strand in 28lb test, usually around £6 for 10mtrs, I have had a lot of big fish on it with no probems at all, great stuff, steve.

Got some a few weeks back, very supple and knots well, just started pike fly fishing so have nothing to compare it to can only confirm it is braid and acts like it, also half the price at Askari. Pete

If it is so supple isn't there an issue with turning over big flies ???

I have tried it, and Pro-Leader, and I can't stand the stuff. I have gone back to SINGLE strand wire, the same as I use for barracuda, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, tope....a haywire twist to form a loop in one end, haywire twist a crosslock to the other and you're done. I can haywire twist the 56lb stuff in my fingers on the bank/boat/kayak. I have never had a trace fail on any fish yet and it will not get bitten through nor chaff. It does kink, but at £8 for 300 feet who cares. You can straighten it to some extent by simply pulling it through your fingers. It is light, very fine and a haywire provides 100% knot strength. Jobs a good'un. Sometimes the simple way is as good as any.

Haven't noticed yet..............mind you, my casting of large flies not the best. I do "feather" the line at the end of the cast to help fling out the whoppers, but I do that with all types of wire.............birdsnest
