Default First Pike 2011

Went to my new membership river Wyre Lancashire and within a dozen casts got my first pike well chuffed. No monster about 5 lb. I'll try to post a pic later.

Yes the line is bright red but is does go to nice pale green.
It does not worry me as Pike in my experience are not line shy.

You need to get yourself an unhooking mat so that you don't have to lay your fish on dirt which will remove the slime from there bodies and leave them vulnerable to disease.

Well fished. They are great fun. Not easy mind. Had a few last winter, one was 18lb, nearly pulled the arm off me . Well done bud, keep going for them.

Good Catch! and Yes you are right about the fish matt, You dont want fish to be white and scabby when you fish for them because you had to put them on the floor. it causes death and all sorts of problems for them. remember once the slime is gone thats when diseases get into there scales as the slime before hand protected it. i have even used my jacket before when iv forgotten it lol must be wet aswell!

Tight lines
