Default Buzz flys take barble

Buzz aka mark has supplied me and some of my Kennet rods with some stonking grayling flys for this winter , exceeding good dressing .
today his pink bug that looks like its a tiny genital in a pink condom took an all time first , a 3lb + barbel ,something I have never seen in "my" carriers before .
Most impressed with the fly and even more impressed with the fight the barble put up

Sadly the barbel was not caught by me but a lady rod who was new to the beat .
I was giving her my usual newbie induction too the fishery ,and fishing in a hot spot ,a really positive take ,and the fight was on .
First thought a big out of season trout ,then a glimpse and maybe a pike ,finally in the net ,expertly played by the way ,a quick pic on the phone and of went whiskers !

I'm surprised there are barbel up that high in the Kennet. I'd love to catch one on the fly ... I'm not surprised it took a shrimp imitation. They love rooting around in the gravel for shrimps and nymphs.

VERY rare to find any Barbel so far up the Kennet! Even rarer to catch one on the fly, fantastic! Any chance of a pic?

Its all true, I've seen the picture and met the lady. Its just a shame that I did not take a picture of my first minnow on the fly, also on the ACWs meadow on the same day.

All Buzz's patterns work fantastically well, the man is a fish magnet, even though he is a cross dresser.
