Default Out of copyright books, e.g. 'Brook and River Trouting'

I noticed in one recent edition of FF&FT, they reviewed a new print of 'Brook and River Trouting'. For those that are interested, this book is no longer under copyright and you can download it from an open library initiative:

Internet Archive: Free Download: Brook and river trouting, a manual of modern north country methods, with coloured illustrations of flies and fly-dressing materials

Worth printing out, I'm tempted to contact some printers and find out how much to have a proper binding...

Nice find
I have down loaded the book and will hopefully get around to reading it.

Cheers

Thanks for that, it has just started snowing again so it will give me something to read.
Cheers

The actual printing bit is buttons, usually no more than a quid or two per copy, but you'll also have to pay a set-up cost of £50/£60 or thereabouts. Digital printing has brought prices down massively for short runs, but it's still probably too expensive to be worthwhile for something like this, unless you can find a dozen or so people to go in with you.

Thanks, that would be very interesting. I found a printer, they've quoted me about £250.00 for 30 copies, might be a bit more, if they have to fiddle with the PDF.

I might get a run of 30 done if there is enough interest: I'd be happy to get a run of 30 done and forward them on for unit cost.

I'll also have a dig around first, may be some others.

Don't forget that Coch-y-Bodhhu's own 2009 paperback edition is only £19.95 and that's with colour plates of flies, plus an introduction from Ollie Edwards. (I suspect the POD copies will be all black and white.)

Price I was quoted was for colour. But I agree £20 per copy isn't bad at all. Though, I may be tempted to print out on a color laser printer at work
