Technically this isn't fly fishing litereature but I wondered if anyone had read this angling classic by Jeremy Wade and Paul Boote? I'm about to start reading my copy shortly and was curious what others thought of it?

Thanks in advance
MJ

One of the best angling books of its generation. Highly recommended.

But I'm biased - Jeremy is a good mate of mine.

A very good read,IMHO. It was very entertaining to have paul on here for several years. I believe he is a commited coarse fisher now.especially Barbell.

great book well worth hunting down. paul boote is indeed a keen barbel angler,
at the moment till the otters eat them all.
he is entertaining on a website called barbel fishing world.

An outstanding book and beautifully written.Possibly unfair to the foul mouthed Geordie thesp but this is book is everything about adventure fishing in bizarre places that the irritating beyond words Robson Green isn't.

Default Paul Boote

Paul is a complete one off, as mad as a march hare and he always been in to barbel fishing, he had a range of specialist barbel rods with his name on them as far back as 1976 !

btw I have a signed copy of the said book with a typically eccentric PB quote for good measure

In the early 80's I met Paul at a Game Fair & invited him to come along to speak at one of our F.D.G meetings, wow you just couldn't stop learning from him. He was the VERY BEST guest speaker we've EVER had. The room was packed & instead of finishing around 10.30 we carried on till nearly midnight. Then I gave him a lift back to his car & continued talking until well gone 1.am.
He then came to Bristol again & gave a repeat performance, but at a larger venue with well over 200 anglers & again it was a total hit.

Paul was living in Windsor then, & shortly after another trip abroad he was targeted by the anti-brigade so went into a sort of isolation, he did move to Bath for a while but kept his head down & I didn't know until after he moved back to Windsor where he was earning a living as a rod builder. Apart from a chance meeting once on another forum, a couple of years or so ago I've not seen or heard anything from him.

Fantastic guy, absolute & totally dedicated to the sport he tied a pretty mean fly as well.
