Default Christmas book - any suggestions?

Hi all

Have to give Santa a small list of things for Christmas this year.

Can anyone recommend a good book - on either fly fishing instruction ( I am probably strong beginneer/intermediate stage .....been river fly fishing 2 seasons , all on nymphs or dries) , or fly tying.

Cheers ........

i would recommend

"Fishing Flies, Every type of fly from around the world" Malcom Greenhalagh & Jason Smalley.

Just bought it today, pricey but interesting.

Malcolm Greenhalgh's recent book that you mention can be purchased for just £20 including postage, rather than the full price of £30, with a voucher in this month's Fly Fishing and Fly Tying. Looks a good buy.

As a good general book on Fly Fishing you can't really beat the Sothebys Guide to Fly Fishing by Charles Jardine. Probably one of the best general guides on the market, with excellent photographs.

I am currently looking at my Christmas wish-list too!

brian clarkes on fishing is a good read, a little hard to get stuck into because it is a compilation of small articles randomly strung together, but there is some really interesting discussions and stories in there. for £9 well worth it methinks.

Thats true Venator, but unfortunately I bought both together today. Only realised when i got home One has to include Postage to ROI on top of £20.

I paid 39.60 euro in Easons today.

My apologies, I should have realised that you were over the water. It looks a good buy anyway at that price, with a variety of old and new flies, according to the mag's review.

Amazon are offering the book for £18.94 - so even cheaper than the magazine! My wife is after a few Chrimbo ideas, I've put in an order for 'Fishing Huts', is this (Fishing Flies) book any good?
