John Goddards waterside guide is an excellent small book which will teach you the important basics about entemology (insects basically) and show you which groups of flies represent which insects. Further reading would be Peter Lapsley's stillwater fishing which will teach you HOW to fish different flies and when to use different groups of flies. Hope this helps and good luck with your fishing.
