Question The Art of Dapping/J.Johnston Mann

I was given a few books a while back from a friend and was looking through them and found a little paperback "The Art of Dapping" by J.Johnston Mann 1986 published by Arthur H Stockwell it is signed on the inside "with compliments"by the author

Does anyone know anything about him?

Pete

May be way off the mark but he may just have been the brother/son of Charles Mann of CC Mann the Glasgow tackle firm that used to reside in West George St.
They were keen dappers in the shop but only knew Charles (briefly)
1986 is I am sure long after the shop disappeared though but anyway, for what it is worth.

Thanks Highlander.
In the book the following is written about him:

J.Johnston Mann was born on the 27th October 1901.He was educated at Marchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, following in his father's footsteps both at school and his fondness for the fascinating sport of angling. At the age of 85 he has decided to "hang up his rods", and now advises anglers, and would-be anglers,to go into the country to enjoy one of the most pleasurable sports on earth.
He lives alone in an attractive mews flat in a secluded part of the West-end of Glasgow.

He must have been a follower of some of the greats ie Skues,Walton, etc and probably fished with some of them(not Walton obviously he was dead!)

Guess it was not the same people, still one never knows. Always nice to get a wee dedication in a book I think. Makes it a bit more personal
