Default books for beginners?

I have had a good search around but have not yet come with anything definitive as to a decent book for beginners.

The Amazon search facility comes up with loads but all of the reviews either vary wildly or say the book is aimed at American anglers.

I'm sure this must have been asked many times before so i have also had a search on here but unfortunately the keywords come up in all sorts of threads and after sifting through 10 or so pages of results i got fed up (the enclosure of the keywords in speech marks seem to have no effect?)

Can anyone recommend anything? And I'm talking absolute novice here!

Cheers in advance

I'm not sure yet but living where i do (cornwall) i'm thinking sea trout? I want something that explains the absolute basics of the sport as a whole initially. As i progress i am sure i can specialise from there.

Default "Getting Started in Fly Fishing" by Tom Fuller

I bought "Getting Started in Fly Fishing" by Tom Fuller. It is aimed at the American market, but starts from the very basics which are universal I reckon wherever you're fishing.
Describes very well the life-cycle of nymphs, mayflies etc which I found helpful and also the techniques involved in fly fishing for the complete newbie.
I was pleased with the book.
