Looking for some advice, I'm thinking about buying the Atlantic Salmon Magic book. Have any of you's already purchased one and if you have, what did you think ? Also where is the best/cheapest outlet to buy the book ?

I know it's advertised above and below the forum, just wondering if there was a cheaper place to buy it.

Hi Jamie,

it's the first book I ever bought about salmon fishing and I'm not in need for another one for long, I guess. I found everything and more I needed to know about fly fishing for salmon in this one. It's complete, coherent and up to date. Worth every £ you'll pay for it and I don't think you'll find any cheaper, second hand copies on the market soon.

I had a look at it at the Game Fair (met the author) and it's a very good quality book full of very nice photographs and some decent text but is it worth £100? Not for me it isn't, I'll wait until they hit the 2nd hand market or the price comes down for a new one.

Thanks M8, I was thinking about the secondhand market myself ebay/gumtree etc. I have various other books on salmon, its the £100 though. That could go towards a good reel etc. Thanks

As a practical guide it is the best i have came accross, i had read a lot of salmon fishing books before i read this and i got as much from this one book as i got from lots of others combined.

Some graet wee stories in it aswell and pressing matters are discused that i knew nothing about until reading this, the book is split up into sections between them all and the practical suff, very well put together i think anyway.

The pics are fantastic!

The pics/diagrams and straight forward easy to understand text that is with them puts a clear image in your minds eye of what to try what is more likley to put you over fish and in a way that is more likley to bring results and when! and makes sense, again! to me anyway.

More so than the standerd written instructions of older books,that is one thing that really stands out,that it is a modern salmon fishing book, although salmon fishing hasent changed that much if atol! and im not saying older books arent any good i have learned a lot from them and no doubt there is loads that has went straight over my head.

Worth every penny! in my opinion! The time and wasted money on fishing that this book could save a beginer and a good angler is easily worth it's asking price.
