Re: Classic Safari, Shikar, and other sporting/adventure books
As per Luke's offering "Hunter" by J.A. Hunter is a good read and one of my favourites although nothing beats Jim Corbett. Not quite colonial but I also enjoy the books on bow-hunting by Howard Hill who was a contemporary of Errol Flynn and also in more recent times the writings of Keith Sverinsen on hunting in New Zealand and other parts of the World are very good reading.

There is a blackbird on every thorn and a cock chaffinch, a twink as they call him there, on every bush...... It moved me profoundly. I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”
