If no date it normally(but not always) means 1st edition.

Jim is right but just to confuse matters occasionally companies will run a second impression of the first edition. It usually states this, but not always. If you want to veryify what book you have, a quick cross reference with amazon and abebooks will give you an idea of what edition and printing you have.
