Default The Fly Tying Bible

100 Deadly Trout and Salmon Flies in Step-by-Step Photographs.

Each of 100 fly patterns is presented in a two-page spread: an enlarged photo and textual description on the left-hand page, complemented with a set of step-by-step, clearly captioned photos on the facing page. In addition, fishing enthusiasts will find sections on fly-tying tools and materials plus general instructions for getting started.

The book's hidden spiral binding keeps its pages opened flat, which emakes it ideal for reference at the workbench. More than 600 color photos.

I really like this book; haven't tied my own flies for a few years now so use it more as a reference point for the various flies mentioned and the odd fishing tip for them. It's always at the front of my bookshelf for a 10-15 min browse before bed!!

The tying instructions are clear and well illustrated, however as I haven't tied directly from it I couldn't comment on their accuracy

Price is a bit steep at £16/£17 but very few fishing books are cheap so not bad in comparison.

I consider Blackers "Art of Fly Tying", or Eric Taverners Tying Flies for trout more Biblical than the book mentioned, it was more of a SBS than a bible

An extremely useful manual for those starting out in fly tying - I found it very useful and refer back to it on a regular basis - well worth the cash.

Average. To be honest I think there are much better fly tying books out there for learning skills (the best of which is, in my view, Charlie Craven's "Basic Fly Tying").

I have it and i am not impressed.

I just u tube any pattern and the lessons on their are far more use.

Interweb magic has made pattern books and 2D stuff obsolete as far as tying instruction goes.

Dont get me wrong, i love my books, however, for actually being shown how to tie, the web is king.

I like to have a book to hand, however much better some of the vids out there are.

There are better both for instruction and patterns, but it's out there, easily available and has it's uses for the beginner. You can get it for around a tenner - less than a takeaway.

I love using this book. I have turned it into a PDF and put it on my iPad2 so I can have it with me when I forget the book and need to tie a fly.

A very good book. Recommended for beginner to pro level. It covers the 'most' used flies including Dry, Nymph and Bugs, Wet Flies, Streamers and Hairwings.
