Question Re: What are the Lancsy Lads Up to Next?

Out fishing this friday, undecided where to try. Curleys or Barnsfold. Was at Oak Royallast Saturday and really struggled with the strong wind and rain. Which one guys and what methods work at the moment as not fished any of the two waters yet. Tight Lines. Craig

CDS........ Never fished Curleys but I do well enough using Beaded buzzers and peacock spiders on a drift at Barnsfold.

Barnsfold can get just as breezy as Oak Royal and probably worse. It could be a tad breezy up there on Friday. You'll probably get more shelter at Curleys. I've not fished Curleys since Mike Roden took it over but what reports have come out have been positive.

At Barnsfold, best results that we are aware of have come fishing buzzers or diawl bachs static or very slowly. Lures are also working.

Curleys is much smaller than Barnsfold and if you are fairly new to stillwaters, then it is probably easier. Keep in touch with this thread and join up with us at Barnsfold when any of us are going out. We'll tell you what little we know
Curleys has, or used to have a small tackle shop there and they'll sell you what flies are working there if you don't already have them.

Cheers Bill. Fished alot of the larger waters Walkerwood, Arnfield, Carsington and Barnsfold does souind like a well run fishery. Another plus is the prices which are cheaper than Curleys. What time does Barnsfold open. Tight lines.

Bill gets there before 8 which I think is the official opening time. Bill tells me that he's climbed over the gate to fish and pays later when Frank opens up the office. Often he's first there and last to go.(They throw him out)

8am. Sorry, didn't realise you'd fished the other waters. Barnsfold's a good fishery. Take the right change as it's an honesty box system. There's a couple of returns books there so you can check up what's working.
If you are fishing from the bank it is often more shallow than you expect so a floater or inter are all you need. Booby's are banned unless you are on a fish ticket and then you can only use a booby until you have taken your bag limit.

You also need a sat nav. to find it.

The bank by the road that leads from the entrance gate to the huts has been fishing well lately. Most people fish off the causeway and it's pretty reliable. The wind looks like it will be W to SW. in which case you can find a little shelter behind the trees at the far end. However I've found the fishing a bit slow there this winter.

What's the earliest you've started fishing on BF Bill?

It's usually about 2 hours before you start blanking. Probably about the same time that you are scrabbling on the bathroom floor to find your dentures and putting a new battery in your hearing trumpet.
