The Eden River's Trust and the Wild Trout Trust are throwing a Wild Trout Weekender on the 18th-19th June.
In brief, a range of some of best wild trout and salmon beats in the northwest will be offered throughout the entire system (competitive bidding basis) to be taken on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June. Prices range from £10 – £50 per rod per day. Some beats will also ‘rent out’ the services of guides, again with proceeds going to ERT / WTT.
Simon Johnson, Director of Eden Rivers Trust said, “The quality of the wild trout fishing on the Eden is truly excellent and it is hoped that the event will also raise the profile of the affordable and easily-accessible association and private beats along the entire 80 mile length of the river. The event has been planned for June when the river is at its peak and the cream of the fishing is on offer......Cumbrian weather permitting!”
On Friday the 17th June, there will be a Eden themed evening at
at the Tufton Arms, Appleby. Tickets priced at £19.50 include a two course supper, guest speakers, and fly tyers. There will also be a charitable auction of ‘Affordable Promises’ with items such as signed books, flies, fishing tackle and other sporting ephemera!
Guest speakers on the evening include
Paul Procter on fishing the Eden, flies and entomology and
Jeremy Lucas on Modern River Trout Fishing Techniques.
The
Tufton Arms Hotel will also be offering a preferential rate for fishermen and guests attending the weekend.
This really is a great opportunity for wild trout anglers to enjoy conversation and everything 'trouty'. The evening event will be one not to be missed as Paul Procter will be providing mastery information about fishing the eden, tactics, flies and entomology as will Jeremy Lucas.
