Default North West ladies fishing day

Just to let anyone who is interested know that there will be a special fly fishing day on Sunday 19 June for lady fly fishers or for ladies wanting to learn to fly fish.

The event will be held at the beautiful Cleveley Mere fishery just South of Lancaster and will cost £16 including the permit. Booking is essential as there will be just 20 places available.

The intention is that the fly fishing girls can fish together in a very relaxed atmosphere and swap fishy tales etc. total beginners will be catered for and the day will be led by Vera Carlson and Lisa Isles (England ladies Team member).Qualified instructors will be on hand to give casting and fishing techniques advice to anyone who needs it. The emphasis is on having fun and if the day is a success then it is hoped to run other events just for ladies. there is a very successful ladies group in the North east who do all kinds of wonderful things connected with angling.

For more information please phone Vera on 07886 817770 or you can e mail her at b9vee@lycos.com

Hi everyone. Just a quick follow up to the day which was a great success despite poor weather resulting in the fishing been dour. It gave ladies a chance to make new fishing friends, swap yarns etc and Roger and his staff at Cleveley Mere really pulled out the stops to make the event a winner with refreshments all day and cupcakes , soup etc. he provided prizes, freshe smoked trout , a fabulous cake and even a nip or two of brandy. A really enjoyable fun day .

As a result the ladies decided they would like to meet sometimes and hoped to meet up again on 31 July at a venue to be decided. All ladies in the area are more than welcome to attend whether they fly fish or would like to in the company of like minded ladies. There will be at least one GAIA qualified instructor available to offer advice and instruction free of charge.

Once a venue is decided we will post the information on the forum. It will also be on the website Welcome to Lake District Fishing .net.

If you would like to know more and enjoy a great fun day out feel free to contact vera on 07886 817770 or e mail her at b9vee@lycos.com

Hi everyone

A venue has been picked for the nextNorth West ladies fishing day on Sunday 31 July 2011. It will be held at the lovely Bank House Fishery at Caton which is just 5 minutes from the M6 motorway at Lancaster. The venue is very scenic with lots of islands and fishing platforms and water flows through the lake ensuring good oxygen levels etc. Also no matter the weather there is lots of fishing shelter and the lake is stocked daily with some terrific Rainbows and Browns. We recently visited and all anglers were bending rods ! No long cast required.

The ladies will have the lake to themselves and there will be a choice of day tickets from catch and release to catch and keep and the permits have been subsidised. Good toilet facilities and a great place for ladies interested in fly fishing to fish together and have a great social day out.

Alreay 1/3 of the places (maximum 16) have been taken so get in quickly if you would like to attend. Absolute beginners are most welcome and tackle and instruction will be provided.

Full details from Vera on 01539 733297 or email her at b9vee@lycos.com.

Following the very succesful day for lady anglers in the North West at Bank House fishery the ladies felt that they would like some more days.So here are details of the 1st events to be scheduled and, with the exception of the Carp fishing days, all ladies in the North West of England with an interest in fly fishing are most welcome to come along and take part. If you have never had a fly rod in your hand before but always fancied a go then our tuition days are perfect for you to learn the casting etc in the company of other ladies.

Carp Fishing with a fly - 18 August (1 vacancy only)
25 August ( 3 vacancies)
For these days ladies must be able to accurately cast a fly to 30` and be used to playing fish on the fly rod. Equipment can be loaned if necessary or bring your own - #7 or 8 rod with floating line. The cost including permit, flies etc etc just £10 a day

Beginners Tuition days - 4 September and 11 September
These days are designed to get beginners and ladies new to fly fishing casting well and able to cope with winds from different directions etc. There will be a minimum of 2 fully qualified casting instructors at these days to help you out and if you don`t have equipment we can lend you it. The first session will be held nr Penrith with very good good motorway access and the second session will be held nr Chorley. Fantastic value for money at £8 and £15 respectively. We will have exclusive use of the lake nr Chorley hence the higher price. Terrific value - contact Vera for full details.

Fly Fishing day at Bigland Hall Fishery nr Newby Bridge - 2 October

Following the brilliant fishing days at Cleveley Mere and Bank House another day out for the girls has been arranged. Please contact Vera for the full details.
