More details about the 2011 show below:

***************

This very popular show is worth a visit. Plenty going on!

As well as some great exhibitors attending the 2011 show will follow on from last year’s successful show with many new fly tying demonstrations projected onto display screens, allowing you to see all those fly tying skills in more detail, with plenty of question and answer sessions with the flytyers. So if you are new to flytying and would like to learn the basics there will be plenty of opportunities to have a go.
Included in the attractions there will be additional presentational discussion and answer talks on a variety of subjects such as, small still water fishing, competition fishing by Nick Halstead and the Hardy Grey’s reservoir lake fishing team.
With the show venue having large grassed areas this is an ideal opportunity to try out new rods from many of our exhibitors, especially the hardy Grey's rods just ask any of the Hardy Grey’s reservoir lake fishing team on hand for a demo.
Uptate: The show is pleased to announce a new exhibitor this year Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain, for those who are interested in Pike fishing Shane Patterson of the Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain will be attending this year's show.

Guest Flytyers and guest Speakers:

Darren Booth - 2009 Troutmasters winner and a member of the Grey's G-Tec Reservoir Team
Carl Nixon - established competiton angler and a member of the Grey's G-Tec ReservoirTeam
Nick Halstead - Fly fishing magazine contributor and a member of the Grey's G-Tec Reservoir Team
Chris Guthrie - England international and a member of the Grey's G-Tec Reservoir Team

My wife and I went this afternoon about 12:30 and we were finished about 13:15 after about 3 walks around the hall, as said there did not seem to be a lot of exhibitors about . I went 2 years ago and there was a lot more then.

I spoke with a tackle dealer about this event last year and I was told its very "clicky", not ALL the North East traders get an invite.

Just like to say as one of the Show Officials, ALL, and I mean ALL N/East tackle companies are invited, the email address list is somewhat extensive.....

Celtic Flycraft werent there due to personal injury, and several other sellers will return in 2012...

As for thr £4 door fee, you had ample chance to get the voucher for the £1 discount from this site.

The hall fees go up, as has everything else in the last year or so, and theres always a few who complain about any increase, which is part and parcel of running the show.

As for turnout, well, IIRC, the turnout was more than last year through the door. Official numbers will be in soon.

Sadly, I think this probably says it all.

I enjoyed watching a mate of mine fly tying, but the retailers don't offer anything special, certainly no bargains on offer.

As an example, I asked the price of a reel. Didn't buy it (thankfully). Saw it later on same retailers ebay site for £3 less (posted) than the quoted price on the day.

the only major player attending, Hardy, had a very small, truly forgettable, collection of tackle on display (and I'm a fan of their gear). They had obviously put very little effort in.

Very sad as it could be a good event but unfortunately misses the mark somewhat.
