If I am going as far as the Tweed I would hope this would be a three day weekend.

Just a thought.

Hi Roy

The plan is meet on the Friday afternoon/evening. Fishing/tuition all day Saturday with fly tying and entomolgy on the evening (with one or two beers!), and fishing/tuition on Sunday until approx lunchtime with everyone free to continue fishing after that on their own

Package will include 2 nights B&B, lunch and dinner on the Saturday, permits and instruction

Still finalising final price

Best Wishes
Ian

Are you going to be offering a tuition-only option? Depending whereabouts on the Tweed you've booked, I'd be tempted to struggle back home to sleep in my own bed.

You might have to 'work around' the complete absence of Sunday fishing on the Tweed....sadly that is the case for trout fishing on the Tweed sytem.

Been given duff gen by the hotel, who said trout was OK on a Sunday. Will speak to them about that

Will change the program so that Sunday will be kick sampling and entomology

Its a pain, no Sunday trout fishing on the Tweed. A throwback to our presbyterian past! Hopefully this will change in the future - sorry Englanders!

Am I right in thinking though, that you can legally fish for trout on the Tweed on a Sunday (unlike Salmon/Sea Trout which it is illegal) but most clubs have a byelaw that wont allow Sunday fishing for trout?

There is no national law prohibiting Sunday fishing for trout on Tweed, such as there is for salmon and sea trout. However, there is a Protection Order in place for the whole of the Tweed catchment, which makes it a criminal offence to fish for freshwater fish without permission (ie anything other than salmon/sea trout). If the Associations do not allow Sunday fishing, then any trout angler fishing would be in breach of the PO and leaving themselves liable to criminal proceedings.....I think there may be some very limited Sunday fishing allowed for trout, further down the system, though I cannot recall which club, and I am not 100% on that so cannot be sure.
