Default Fly Dressers Guild survey results

A big thank you to all those who took the time to reply to the survey included with the Winter 2011 edition of flydresser magazine.

A total of 312 replies were recieved by the cut off date with a further 13 arriving later.

Without going into fine detail, the survey was a very useful inidicator of the way members felt about the Guild magazine and an overwhelming majority asked for it to remain as a quarterly magazine circulated by post. The number prepared to recieve the magazine electronically was sufficently high that we will look at ways of doing this in the future in addition to keeping the postal distribution for those who prefer that method.
The number of magazines will remain at 4 for the forseable future.

82% of members actively collect the magazine.

There was approximately a 50 / 50 split on the issue of more interbranch activities with fly tying days being a favourite option.

Full results will be published in the Spring issue of Flydresser.

Thats interesting It appears that there is a roughly 50/50 split between members who are not branch membersand those who are . Do we have any data that shows the distribution of members and the relavence to the distribution of active branches?

Hi,

That's an issue I'm in the midst of investigating, following the back of the responses to the questionnaire and the queries we're receiving via the forum. I'm pulling together a map - similar to the Branches Google map I did earlier - to show where our members live and see how we can address some of the "desert areas" that we have, whether by encouraging the creation of new branches by members in these areas, or perhaps just helping members meet up with others in their area on a less formal basis to start with.

We'll use the forum and the website to publicise the outcome of this review and the measures we're taking as a result.

Best,

Caroline
