Default Welcome to the Fly Dressers Guild forum

Ladies and gentlemen,
My thanks go to the owners of this forum for allowing us to have our own discussion board.
The purpose is to give members a way to communicate with branches, each other and of course the executive committee of the main Guild. This is not meant as a vehicle for attacking individuals or committee decisions, that said we would welcome constructive ideas and genuine offers of help. Please remember that your committee are all volunteers, running the Guild for your benefit. We may not be able to answer some questions, eg individual membership issues, those are still best dealt with by an email to the relevant officer of the Guild. We also reserve the right to refer questions to the EC committee and reply to individuals rather than through the forum. Branches are welcome to publish their programmes or details of events here.
We welcome non members to the forum and hope that maybe they will join the Guild in time.

Chris Reeves FDG General Secretary

Good on you... I joined just before Christmas in the hope that attending the local ( east Yorks ) branch might lead to me improving what I tie.. First few meetings have been excellent.

Welcome lads and lasses of the FDG!

We are very pleased to welcome you to the Fly Forums and hope you will also explore outside this forum also and get involved with what is probably the largest dedicated fly fishing community in Europe and maybe the world (no-one's argued yet!)

Hi coasty, welcome to the Guild then! It's always good to hear of new joiners and that the branch meetings have been excellent. I'm looking forward to making it to more of my branch meetings (Surrey) this year - about as close to a New Year's resolution as I've got!

Only just spotted this, I've been a member for a couple of years - local branch is a bit of a trek (been to see Arkle and crew at Dave W's demo only once south of Bristol) but like to support the Guild anyway; very welcome addition on here in my view - look forward to seeing this thread run and run with lots of good info. Atb, Toby

Good timing, I received my welcome pack in the post last week.

I dropped in on a meeting of my local FDG in November and had a very warm welcome, was convinced by Arkle to join, and I've been to another meet since then. Learnt far more than trying to get by from youtube and SBS on my own from home, simply because someone is not only showing you what to do, but answering all your queries on the way, and most crucially, anticipating the snags and explaining how to avoid the pitfalls (broken thread, twisted hackle, spacing, dubbing the way you want it, the list is endless).

I'm looking forward to this part of the forum!

Courty

We have a technical issue with the website, you need to right click on the application form and download it onto your computer, print it off, complete it and send it to the membership secretary.
I know this is a nuisance but we are aware of the problem which was aopparently caused during the migration from the old site.

Regards
